General Timeline

BEFORE YOUR PROJECT BEGINS

  1. Consider potential topics for your thesis or ideas for your creative project, ideally two to six months before the first term in which you register for thesis hours.
  2. Meet with faculty members in your department whom you are considering to serve as your thesis director. If you are not familiar with your department's faculty members, each department's website has a listing of its faculty members, usually with links to their current research interests and/or personal websites.
  3. Read the Honors in the Major Handbook, or visit the program director during office hours posted at the bottom of this page.
  4. Make an appointment to talk to your department's faculty Honors Liaison, or if no Liaison is listed for your department, with your department or program's area lead or director of undergraduate studies.
  • For the Summer 2020 or Fall 2020 semesters, submit Your Honors in the Major application via the online portal no later than Friday, April 10, 2020, at 4:30 pm Eastern.

  2. For the first 2-3 weeks of classes, work with your thesis director to narrow the scope and focus of your thesis and to identify a timeline of thesis draft submission. Select the other members of your committee.
