Students who have been admitted to Florida State University as transfer students may apply to the University Honors Program for the fall or spring semester. Students should apply to the Honors Program once they are admitted to FSU using the link below.
Students who participate in the Spring Transfer Pathway program through Tallahassee Community College (TCC) can apply to the University Honors Program via the lateral admission process at the end of their spring semester at FSU. Transfer students who have completed the AA or are Upper Division students are eligible to apply for the Honors in the Major program.
To be considered for admission into the FSU University Honors Program, transfer students must have a 3.75 GPA or higher from their previous institution. All admitted transfer students will be required to complete the Honors Program 18 honors points requirement including:
- Successful completion of the Honors Colloquium course (HUM 2944) in their first semester.
- Successful completion of one Honors Signature course during their time in the University Honors program.
- Successful completion of one departmental Honors course during their time in the program.
- Maintaining a 3.2 or higher FSU GPA throughout the duration of their time to degree.
Transfer students may be eligible to apply up to six honors credit hours to the 18 points required to complete the FSU University Honors Program. Transfer of points from the prior institution are evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the University Honors Program transfer committee at the time of application.
Transfer Application Deadlines
August 1 - Deadline for transfer students wishing to start in the fall semester.
Transfer applicants will be assessed on cumulative and term GPAs, college course rigor, and the quality of written essays regarding the program and their expressed interest. Considering that other requirements are met, the essays are a very important part of the application for admission to the University Honors Program. All applications will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis with no guarantee of admission. Transfer applicants will receive a decision one business day before drop/add of their first semester at Florida State University.
